The Queen Village neighborhood is home to about 7,000 residents. It was named in honor of Sweden's Queen Christina, who is known for encouraging Swedes to settle in the area before 1640, making it Philadelphia's oldest neighborhood. Queen Village is known for its nightlife, as the clubs and pubs of South Street are just a short walk from to Penn's Landing, the Great Plaza where outdoor festivals and various recreational activities go on all year round. With plenty of cafes, bookstores, bistros, pizzerias, shops, art galleries and craft stores, South Street is a place to hang out and enjoy at any time of the day. Be sure to check out the Pedestrian Bridge, which runs over the I-95. Just don't bump into the giant steel figurative sculptures!
